UK consumers will spend at Christmas regardless of their financial situation, it has been claimed.

The British Retail Consortium (BRC) observes that while disposable income has fallen this year, festive expenditure is likely to be unaffected.

Britons could be faced with worsened personal debt as a result, with debt consolidation loans a potential means of addressing this.

Richard Dodd, head of media at the BRC, comments: "More is spent in December than in any other month.

"The key considerations are how much a customer has to spend in reality and how well off they feel."

But he adds that essentials such as food and drink typically remain areas of expenditure regardless of individuals' backgrounds.

The BRC represents retailers ranging from the high streets to out-of-town shopping centres and online stores.

Consumers who find they have overspent, whether online or in the real world, could opt for debt consolidation loans as a possible solution.ADNFCR-1287-ID-18364671-ADNFCR
