It is important for young women to keep track of their finances, according to an adviser.

Lisanne Mealing, director of financial adviser MDM Associates, suggests that it would be unrealistic to expect women to stop spending money at the expense of their social life.

"You know you're going to go out, you know you're going to spend money on clothes - budget for it," she tells consumers.

Her advice could be useful for members of both sexes - any of whom could stand to benefit from obtaining a secured loan to help fund their social lives.

"It's quite important to sit down and work out what your actual outgoings are, what you need to have a good time and still plan for the future," Ms Mealing adds.

And by doing so, she claims that some people could find they could actually save towards a deposit for a house.

This in turn could see them build up the equity required to obtain secured loans in the future.ADNFCR-1287-ID-18393510-ADNFCR
