The costs of items that people need to conduct their daily lives is growing, meaning that bags and their contents are becoming of increasing value.

According to new research from Legal & General, the average 30-year-old woman now spends between £185 and £380 on a new handbag.

While a loan might be a way of covering the cost of the must-have bag, an even? larger one might be needed when filling it - with the firm suggesting that in total a laden handbag can weigh in at £1,500.

The company is advising consumers to ensure that they have cover to address any unfortunate losses or thefts.

However, those who are ready for a bag revamp might like to consider a loan as a means of starting afresh.

Meanwhile, recent figures from esure suggests that it is not only adults who are carrying more expensive items.

It has calculated that the average cost of a schoolbag is now in the region of £265.
